Preparing for the biggest licenced parade: BLE 2015

More than 80 licensed characters including Peppa Pig, Dennis the Menace and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are set to take part in the biggest BLE character parade yet next week.

Taking place from 13 October on the show’s central aisle in Olympia London, organiser UBM Advanstar is gearing up for the biggest parade yet in the 17-year history of Brand Licensing Europe (BLE), 15 per cent bigger than last year’s.

According to the organiser, it takes six months to plan for the parade and well over 100 people to manage on the day.

“The character parade is now a well-loved show tradition and an ideal opportunity for licensors to showcase their characters,” said Darren Brechin, BLE event director.

“My tip is to watch it from the balcony where you get the best views and can see this spectacle in all its glory.”

Familiar parade faces such as Miffy and Care Bears will be joined by new characters to the event including Boofle, Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol, Lego Scooby and Shaggy, Boj, Bing, the new Bob the Builder and Twirlywoos.

Among the crowd will also be Danger Mouse, which has just re-launched, and the Teletubbies as they prepare to make a come-back to TV screens.

BLE will feature more than 300 exhibitors displaying more than 2,500 brands available for licensing opportunities, including characters, brands, images, artwork and designs.

In 2014, more than 7,000 retailers, licensees, manufacturers and sales promotion professionals attended Brand Licensing Europe from 69 countries.

Last year’s show also reported a 28 per cent increase in retail buyers from the previous year
