AN ENVIRONMETAL POLICY, STRICTLY FOLLOWED AND REVIEWED REGULARLY, ENSURES RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES

Highfields is aware that our everyday business activities can impact the environment, and with limited World resources, we have implemented and follow an Environmental Policy.

Our aim is to reduce the impact our company makes on the environment by reducing our carbon footprint, putting measures in place which not only meet current EU legislation, but where possible, exceeds it.

We are committed to reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, with approximately 75% of materials being recycled. We understand that it might not be practicable to have an absolute zero wastage policy, but we will continue to work in a manner that reduces our waste to a minimum, and wherever possible, recycling and re-distributing the remainder.

It Is Our Policy To:

  1. Comply with all environmental legislation and policies.
  2. To check all suppliers that they comply with environmental legislation and follow an environmental policy.
  3. To reduce material waste by careful consideration of required amounts.
  4. Ensure FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified material is sourced when manufacturing products.
  5. Promote environmentally-friendly staff transport (such as car sharing, cycle initiatives) whilst reducing car numbers for local businesses and residents.
  6. Reuse resources wherever possible rather than disposing of them.
  7. To disperse and locate where clearly visible, environmental advice posters in office and warehouse floors.
  8. Ensure environmental responsibility is included in all staff job descriptions and contracts.
  9. To communicate the Environment Policy with all successful staff candidates prior (or at the commencement) of their employment.
  10. Continue to improve environmental performance through the implementation and review of objectives and performance.
  11. Develop our built infrastructure in the most environmental way as practicable.

Committed To Reducing Landfill Waste

We are working hard to reduce the amount of landfill waste even further. To achieve this, our future environmental policy will include: a) An annual Waste Audit to monitor waste disposal, b) Implement annual refresher waste disposal training to key members of staff, c) To access the viability of installing microchips into large disposal bins to measure the exact weights of waste going to landfill.

This policy reflects our concern and demonstrates our commitment to environmentally responsible business activities.
